What is Electroforming?

What is Electroforming?

What is Electroforming?

Electroforming is a process of allowing layers of metals to build up  or "form" onto a surface.  The artist controls where the metals build up by first painting a design on the item with a special electroconductive paint.  The piece is suspended in a plating tank where an electric current allows the metals to build up where the paint has been applied.  Once the desired thickness has been reached

What is Electroforming?

Encaustic  is a wax-based painting medium  comprised of beeswax and Damar Resin, a tree gum.  This combination is called encaustic medium and  forms the base of encaustic paint.  Pigments can be added to the medium, or it can be used on its own.

Artists using this painting media work HOT and COLD instead of WET and DRY, as in traditional painting.  Hot plates, heated tools, heat guns, blow torches and irons are used to manipulate and fuse the layers of wax.

How to care for Electroformed pieces?

Orgonite is a material made of resin, metals, and crystals that helps to balance our Life Energy.

It is an energy generator which amplifies our intention and neutralizes disruptive environmental energies.

Energy that is out of balance is absorbed into the metal-resin mix and is brought back into a healthy, balanced state by the embedded crystals.

Please enjoy your one of a kind Crystal Phoenix copper jewelry with love and care!  Some pieces of crystal jewelry (especially larger or delicate pieces) require a little more consideration when wearing.  It should not be worn while bathing, swimming, or sleeping. Contact with water or chemicals (soap, lotion, etc) may cause oxidation of the metal that can possibly turn skin green. Some crystals may begin to wear away with repeated exposure.

How to care for Encaustic pieces?

Care for Encaustic Paintings similarly to other fine art works.  They should not be hung in direct sunlight or above a fireplace where the temperatures get very warm.

When beeswax is combined with Damar Resin into the encaustic medium, the hardness and clarity is enhanced, as well as raises the overall melting temperature.  This combination makes encaustic more durable than beeswax alone.  However, the medium can soften if stored in areas reaching 180+ degrees Fahrenheit.
